Falisco Pottery with Citrus

This painting is about the drama of light on pottery and fruit against a dark background. I bought this beautiful bowl in the ancient walled city of Civita Castellana from reknowned artisan Maestro Cencio who employs the authentic methods and designs of the Falisco people that inhabited the area centuries ago. The citrus fruit nestled in quite comfortably. I enjoyed that one lemon and one of the birds both face left.
